Beth Holmes, a personal assistant at Dronfield-based financial planners Belmayne, spent six months training for the Sheffield Half Marathon to raise money for the firm’s charitable foundation. Belmayne announced her entry on 18 March 2026, ahead of the race on 29 March.
Beth is a novice runner whose first race was the Sheffield 10K in 2025. Soon after finishing it she set herself the bigger challenge of the 13-mile road race, and has also volunteered as a race marshal.
Beth said: “As a born and bred Sheffielder, the half marathon felt like the obvious next step on my running journey.”
For the Belmayne Foundation
Money raised by Beth and her colleagues goes to the Belmayne Foundation, which supports small registered charities that focus on health and wellbeing and provide relief to people in need. Its nominated charities are St Luke’s Hospice and Sheffield Parent Carer Forum. When the run was announced, the firm said it had donated more than £58,000 to 16 local organisations since the foundation began in 2019.
Belmayne partner David Bashforth said: “We are hugely proud of Beth for taking on such a daunting challenge and working so hard to raise funds for our annual charities.”
Sheffield Half Marathon is organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All. It starts and finishes in the city centre and includes a timed hill climb and a 10K downhill sprint. Belmayne’s release was issued before the race and does not give Beth’s finishing time or the total she raised.
In September the firm took on Greg McMillan as its second trainee financial planner. More on the people behind the region’s firms is in our people section.
