Sheffield diesel prices: 33.2p a litre separates the cheapest forecourt and the dearest motorway services

Official Fuel Finder figures to 22 October 2026 put diesel at 189.7p a litre at the cheapest forecourt open to all drivers in Sheffield and 222.9p at the dearest, against a Sheffield average of 198.3p and a UK average of 198.8p.

Diesel cost an average of 198.3p a litre across the 44 forecourts in the Sheffield area that were reporting diesel prices to the government’s Fuel Finder scheme on 22 October 2026, 0.5p below the UK average of 198.8p.

The cheapest diesel open to all drivers in the Sheffield area was 189.7p at Asda Sheffield Drakehouse Superstore, S20 7AB. The dearest was 222.9p, charged at two forecourts including Welcome Break Woodall North Forecourt, S26 7XR, all motorway service areas. For a business buying fuel, that 33.2p difference is worth £332 on every 1,000 litres, or £18.26 on a 55 litre tank. Away from motorway services, the dearest was 201.9p at Shell Waitrose Sheffield, S2 4QF, 12.2p more than the cheapest.

Costco Sheffield was cheaper still at 186.9p, but Costco forecourts are for members only, so it is left out of the cheapest figure above.

Like for like, diesel prices at the 32 of those forecourts that reported on both 15 October and 22 October fell by an average of 0.3p a litre over the week. Among them, 3 raised their price, 13 cut it and the rest did not change.

Unleaded petrol (E10) averaged 173.6p across 44 forecourts, 0.2p above the UK average of 173.4p. It ranged from 169.7p at Asda Sheffield Drakehouse Superstore to 198.9p at Welcome Break Woodall North Forecourt.

Supermarket forecourts were the cheaper place to fill up with diesel: they averaged 195.9p across 13 sites, against 199.7p at the other 30.

For fleets, 24 of the 44 forecourts selling diesel told Fuel Finder they sell fuel 24 hours a day, and 7 have AdBlue at the pump. HVO renewable diesel was on sale at 1 forecourt, from 199.9p at Ring Road Service Station (Shell).

Across Yorkshire and the Humber, diesel averaged 198.5p and unleaded 172.5p on the same figures, and like for like diesel fell by an average of 0.3p over the week across 373 forecourts.

How the figures were worked out

The figures come from Fuel Finder, the government scheme under which every UK forecourt must report its prices within 30 minutes of a change, published as open data under the Open Government Licence. British Fuel Prices records the feed several times a day. Averages cover the forecourts on its Sheffield page that reported a price in the 14 days to 22 October 2026; older prices are left out. The Sheffield area is the 21 S postcode districts on that page, so it reaches beyond the city council boundary. The figures include 2 motorway service areas. Weekly changes compare the same forecourts’ prices at both dates. Prices are pump prices in pence per litre, including duty and VAT.
