How the figures were worked out

The figures come from Fuel Finder, the government scheme under which every UK forecourt must report its prices within 30 minutes of a change, published as open data under the Open Government Licence. British Fuel Prices records the feed several times a day. Averages cover the forecourts on its Sheffield page that reported a price in the 14 days to 2 November 2026; older prices are left out. The Sheffield area is the 21 S postcode districts on that page, so it reaches beyond the city council boundary. The figures include 2 motorway service areas. Weekly changes compare the same forecourts’ prices at both dates. Prices are pump prices in pence per litre, including duty and VAT.
